How to get promoted faster at work?

Working in a corporate is not just a job. It is a war. You have to work hard, showcase your talent, be strong, physically and mentally, plot against your enemies and most importantly, survive. And if you want to go up the ladder, it requires you to be more than just a soldier.

Everyone is marching exactly the same way, from attention to stand at ease. Then what is so special about you that you should be allowed to hold the torch and lead the flock? Check if you have the following five traits to become the next captain of your regiment.

1. WORKING AS IF YOU ARE ALREADY THE CAPTAIN

Imagine, you are already promoted as the captain. You have to lead the flock in moments of crisis and make the existence of your existing captain redundant. Be the one man/women army as well as the go to person of the flock. Let them come to you with their problems. Help them to the maximum extent possible because a true leader thinks beyond his or her own goals.

2. SHOOT NOTHING BUT A HEADSHOT

In no case, any bullet that you shoot should miss the aim. Be it a bright sunny day or a tensed night, it should always be a headshot. Period. You cannot compromise on quality, whatsoever. Your work should speak for your outstanding performance.

3. DO NOT HESITATE TO DO FIRST AID AND OTHER MILITARY CHORES

Though you are a soldier, you will have to do things not done by others to lead your regiment. Be it first aid or washing clothes or cooking for your fellow soldiers, go ahead. Grab the opportunity. Do everything that comes your way to show that it isn’t just one forte you master, but all.

4. THERE CANNOT BE ANOTHER SOLDIER LIKE YOU

Your name should be in imprinted in the book of best soldiers your regiment will ever have. Create a goodwill for your name. Let all captains and majors and superintendents know you. Be the insanely famous soldier whom the regiment is proud of. In other words, let the CEOs and Partners know that somewhere you were the reason for their success.

5. SHOW OTHERS HOW TO HOLD THE GUN

When new soldiers join the troop, train them. Make them feel that you are going to be their next leader from their very first day. Teach them how to hold the gun, aim and shoot. Show them that you know everything that they are yet to know. Most importantly, do not forget to inform your captain that a new troop of trained soldiers is ready to win a another war.

Surviving a war is not easy. It will burn you, bruise you and you might even have to shed some blood. You will have to stay away from your family, train others and see nothing but work. But when you finally wave the winning flag at your enemies land, it will be worth it. Especially, as the newly promoted captain. Roger that?
